Hi! I’m Mara Levy, and my pronouns are they/them.

I’m a licensed occupational therapist, a certified lymphedema specialist, and a somatic experiencing practitioner.

As an occupational therapist (or OT), I work with body, mind, spirit, spirit, identity, roles, community - basically everything that makes us human. I have a lot of specialized skills available, but all my treatment is in the service of helping my clients build their capacity to do things they care about.

I want to build a better world, with more justice, safety, and joy for us all.

I think an important tool to get there is helping each of us heal so we can join in building that better world. As we become able to show up as our best selves, we can spread that healing to those around us.

You want to do what matters.

I want to help.

Talk-based work

Somatic therapy is mind-body care that can help you reconnect with your body, learn to feel safe, manage stress, and live a more meaningful life.

Somatic experiencing is the specific type of somatic therapy I’m trained in, and is particularly good for trauma recovery. The somatic therapies can be talk-only, or can also include bodywork and movement.

Interoception is how we can listen to our body. We can build our interoception skills with playful practice.

Sensory modulation can help us learn how to support our sensory sensitivities for a more regulated nervous system.

Executive function support is also offered to help you do the things you care about, and create systems based on how your brain actually works.

Pacing skills can help with getting out of the overdoing and crashing cycle, and better manage pain and fatigue.

Talk-based occupational therapy is available in person in downtown Silver Spring, MD, or online for people in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Bodywork

Deep relaxation, stress relief, and nervous system regulation are benefits of all the bodywork approaches I offer.

Lymphatic drainage massage (manual lymphatic drainage) uses gentle touch to help the lymphatic system work more effectively, reducing inflammation in the body.

CranioSacral therapy uses an even gentler touch to improve function in the central nervous system, allowing the body’s self-healing ability to work.

Neurolymphatic drainage combines lymphatic drainage and craniosacral elements to enhance fluid flow in the brain, supporting better brain health.

Myofascial release helps your body soften the places where it’s stuck.

Somatic bodywork is a term I use for using touch to help regulate the nervous system and release stuck trauma. It can include any of my other skills as needed.

Occupational therapy including bodywork is available at my office in downtown Silver Spring, MD near DC.
